In the course of our research, we found Circles USA, a proven, nationally-recognized model built upon long-term relationships between adults living at or below 150% of the Federal Poverty Level (Circle Leaders) and trained volunteers (Allies). Each “Circle” meets to support Leaders pursuing their educational, employment, and related goals, while increasing income to at least 200% of the FPL. Other volunteers engage the community by increasing its “poverty IQ” and catalyzing collective action to targeting systemic barriers to poverty alleviation.
In 2016, we received funding to expand the Center of Grace’s offerings and became the first Circles affiliate in Metropolitan Kansas City. We are preparing to start our first Circles class in Fall 2017! Circles will build upon the successful programs, services, and partnerships at the Center of Grace. If you are interested in this project, it is not too late to become involved! We need volunteers at all levels. Please email CirclesOlathe@gmail.com!
